Michael J. Newmark, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I.
Dr. Newmark earned his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and was graduated from medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed a medical internship at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Newmark was instrumental in bringing coronary angioplasty to Northern Nevada and was the first physician to perform directional coronary atherectomy in Northern Nevada. He also started the first cardiac rehab center in Northern Nevada. His professional interests include interventional cardiology techniques including complex coronary stenting, new gene therapeutics for growth of new vessels, and treatment of acute coronary syndromes. Dr. Newmark has practiced cardiology in the Reno area since 1977. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. In 1999 Dr. Newmark passed the American Board of Internal Medicine, added qualifications in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Newmark also serves as the President for Sierra Heart Institute and the Medical Director for Sierra Nevada Cardiology Associates Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, LLP.
