Dr Carrea is originally from the Mid-Hudson Valley region of New York.  He earned his undergraduate degree at State University of New York in Albany, NY, and his Medical Degree from State University of New York in Syracuse, NY. He completed both a medical internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School and New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass.  He pursued a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine in Denver, CO.  This involved training in general cardiology, pacemakers, interventional cardiology and cardio-vascular research.

Dr. Carrea has practiced cardiology in Reno since 1992 and joined Sierra Nevada Cardiology Associates in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology.  

Dr. Carrea's professional interests include complex lipid management, interventional cardiology (angioplasty and coronary stents), cardiac pacing and ICD therapy. He has experience in ICD/pacemaker lead extraction.
